Freiamt is going 100 per cent renewable for power and heat: The village in the Black Forest combines solar, wind and biomass, and set up a district heat network.

Some 300 solar roofs in the village generate power, a lot of them owned by farmers. Biogas units provide heat and power to local homes. Ernst is the manager of the community owned wind turbines. Wind power is his hobby, he says. In the interview, he explains why public acceptance for the installations in Freiamt is so high.
